Supporting Characters Synopsis: Best friends Nick (Alex Karpovsky, "Girls") and Darryl (co-writer Tarik Lowe) are a New York film editing duo hired to salvage a botched comedy from a manic director (Kevin Corrigan, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS) gone AWOL. But what starts as a simple job quickly sends their relationships-with their significant others and each other-reeling. Amidst trouble with his fiancée (Sophia Takal, V/H/S), Nick finds himself falling for the film's flirtatious ingénue (Arielle Kebbel, "90210"); Darryl, meanwhile, struggles to focus on his editing work in between fights with his tempestuous girlfriend (Melonie Diaz, Be Kind Rewind). With real humor and heart, Supporting Characters offers a sharp, knowing take on life and love in the big city. (c) Tribeca Film

Review For Supporting Characters

Offers a few laughs, all served up on eyeball-gougingly ugly digital video.
Lou Lumenick-New York Post

This well-acted film captures a generational and occupational sliver of New York life that rings true.
Stephen Holden-New York Times

Schechter made the whole thing for about $50,000, without any A-list names. And yet it's sharper and more entertaining than most of the movies to come out this month at 10 times the budget - or well beyond.
Elizabeth Weitzman-New York Daily News

[A] modest but surprisingly deft indie ...
Nick Schager-Time Out New York

In its sharply etched sketches of personal and professional frissons, Supporting Characters belies the modesty of both its lo-fi setup and its self-effacing title.
Andrew Schenker-Village Voice

Supporting Characters tends to meander pleasantly from scene to scene, relying on the testy rapport between its two lead actors.
Mike D'Angelo-AV Club

Glides from a mildly off-putting opening across several scenes that waver between sitcom superficiality and sudden, unexpected gusts of feeling.
